Mill Hall, PA – Forty-one Super Late Models registered for Clinton County Speedway’s season Finale on Saturday.  The Nittany 50 Championship paid $5,000 to the winner and in the end was earned by Dylan Yoder of Selinsgrove.  Rich Fye of Lock Haven claimed the $1,000 to win Pro Stock feature event with a last lap pass while Jeffrey Weaver of Lock Haven was victorious in the 270 Micro Sprints and Adam Campbell of Danville won the four cylinder feature. 

Fast-timer Mike Maresca of Pottsdale, NY started on the pole position by luck of the draw, as the heat winners redrew for the first four starting spots, using the Outlaw’s starting line-up procedure. Maresca took the early lead with David Scott of Elkland, who started fourth taking the runner up position.   On lap number five Scott took the lead from Maresca.  The duo raced side by side for several laps with Maresca getting credit for leading lap number 7, then Scott coming back to lead circuit number 8.  A five car incident on lap number nine slowed the field.   Chad Julies, Denny Fenton, Andrew Yoder, Devin Hart and Kyle Lee were involved.  All drivers were okay and able to rejoin the race.  Scott led the field for the restart with Maresca, Dylan Yoder, Gene Knaub and Damian Bidwell in the top five. 

Scott and Maresca continued to battle for the top position while Bryan Bernheisel moved into the top five on lap number nineteen.  Scott and Maresca raced through lapped traffic and at times would split the lapped cars with Scott down low and Maresca working the high side of the speedway.  Maresca passed Scott for the lead on lap number 23.  On the next lap, Scott slowed and brought out the caution.  Maresca restarted the race with Dylan Yoder, Knaub, Bernheisel and Bidwell in pursuit.  Bernheimer took over the third spot on lap number 26 making it a three car race for the lead.  2020 Limited Late Model Track Champion, Matt Cochran, who started 11^th advanced into the top five on lap number 32.  With ten laps remaining, Bernheisel brought out the caution with a flat tire.   The restart had Yoder in command of the field, with Maresca, Cochran, Bidwell, and Jim Yoder in the top five.  On lap 45 the caution came out for Andrew Yoder.  Under the caution Maresca went to the pit area with a flat moving Cochran up to the runner up position for the restart.   Yoder held the lead for the final five laps to earn the $5,000 payday over Cochran, Bidwell, Jim Yoder, and Devin Hart.  Sixth through tenth were Kevin Probst, Bernheisel, Julies, Mike Smith, and Maresca.  Heat races were won by David Scott, Mike Wonderling, Michael Maresca, and Bryan Bernheisel.  B-mains were won Denny Fenton and Shaun Jones.  Fast time was set by Michael Maresca with a lap of 13.522.

 Dennis Cummins of Wellsville, NY advanced from the third position to take the lead of the opening lap of the Pro Stock 20 lap main event.  Robert Tressler of Lock Haven took the second spot with Rich Fye in third, Marc Bitler in fourth, Brad Benton in the top five.  Cummins opened a half of a straight away advantage and appeared to be the car to beat.  Cautions on laps eight and ten, allowed Tressler to pressure Cummins for the top spot, but the New York driver was too strong on the restarts.   Ray Rothfuss moved into the top five on lap number 14.   On the 17^th circuit, something broke on Cummins car as he slowed in turns three and fourth and retired to the pit area.  Tressler inherited the lead with Fye, Benton, Rothfuss and Tommy Dawson restarting in the top five.   The top three cars raced hard in the final three laps, with Tressler leading the way.  On the white flag lap, Tressler, Fye and Benton were in contention for the win.   As the they entered turns three and four, Tressler tried to protect the inside lane, as Fye powered around the outside and make the winning pass coming out of turn number four to claim his first win of the season and the $1,000 top prize.  Tressler finished second, followed by Rothfuss, Benton and Dawson.  Sixth through tenth were Lon Savage Jr., John Bouse, Buck Mills, Kevin VanAmburg, and Cory Long.  Heat races were won by Marc Bitler and Cummins. 

Bobby Sanso of Jersey Shore started on the pole position and jumped into the early lead of the 270 Micro Sprint feature event.   Troy Whitesel who started third took the runner up position and pressured Sanso for the lead.  At the midpoint of the race, Sanso was in command with Whitesel, Jeffrey Weaver, Adrian Shaffer, and Ethan Spotts in the top five.  Weaver passed Whitesel on lap number eleven to take the runner up position.   On lap number fifteen, Weaver made the winning pass around Sanso.  Shaffer passed Sanso on lap number 21 for second, then came to a stop on the white flag lap.  The one lap shoot-out gave Sanso, Spotts, Whitesel and Dan Wertman one more attempt to catch Weaver.   Spotts battled with Sanso and took the runner up position, as Weaver picked up the victory by 0.292 seconds.  Following Weaver were Spotts, Sanso, Whitesel and Wertman.  Sixth through tenth were Shaun Musser, Levi Brungard, Cory Stabley Mike Weinrich and Adrian Shaffer.  Heat races were won by Bill Laughlin and Nick Whitesel. 

Josh Norton and Virgil Myer started on the front row of the Four Cylinder 25 lap main event.  Bruce Betres took command of the field on the opening lap leading Adam Campbell and Tim Raup.   Matt Bowing, who started eleventh worked his way into the top five by the completion of lap number six.   Betres and Campbell began to encounter lapped traffic on lap number ten.   Campbell took the top spot from Betres on lap number eighteen with Bowing and Raup in pursuit.  Bowing took the lead from Campbell on lap number nineteen with Campbell battling back on the next lap to regain the top spot.   On the final lap, Bowings car slowed going down the backstretch, as Campbell raced to the checkered flag over Raup, Cody Stover who advanced from the 16^th starting position, Adman DelGrosso finished fourth and Steve Campbell rounded out the top five.  Sixth through tenth were Bruce Betres, Sam Creveling, Donald Betres, Matthew Brown, and Matt Bowing.   Heat races were won by DelGrosso, Brad Boyd, and Raup.  The B-main was won by Greg Rockwell.

Mill Hall, PA – The Clinton County Speedway hosted two large race events on Saturday for the RaceSaver Sprint Cars and the Pro Stocks.   Thirty-three IMCA RaceSaver Sprint were in competition for the Nittany 40 Championship sponsored by Bill’s Happy Camper of Mill Hall.  Twenty-seven Pro Stocks were in attendance for the 40-lap C.W. Smith Memorial honoring the late racer who competed in late models, the ARCA Series and eventually NASCAR with a team based locally in nearby Williamsport.  Dale Schweikart of Linden won the Nittany 40 and John Zimmerman of Varysburg, NY won the C.W. Smith Memorial.  Timmy Bittner of Beech Creek claimed the 270 Micro Sprint feature and Blake Snyder won the 4-Cylinder main event. 

Tylor Cochran of Williamsport set fast time in Sprint Car time trials with a lap time of 15.620 second.   Four heat races and a consolation were used to determine the starting line up for the Nittany 40.  Matt Tebbs of Cogan Station and Ryan Lynn of Hollidaysburg brought the field of sprint cars to the green flag.  Lynn made the pass for the lead going down the front stretch leading Tebbs and national IMCA points leader Garrett Bard of Wells Tannery.  The caution flag waived on lap number four when Doug Dodson spun in turn number two.  On the restart, Lynn controlled the top spot and while Tebbs and Bard battled for second.  Firth place starter Dale Schweikart and fourth place starter Tylor Cochran completed the top five.  On lap number six, Bard and Schweikart passed Tebbs and set their sights on the leader.  Schweikart passed Bard on lap number 8 for the runner up position.  On lap number fourteen, Lynn began to encounter lapped traffic allowing Schweikart to get within striking distance.  However, Lynn threaded his way through the lapped traffic and when Schweikart would get close, Lynn managed to put a lapped car between them.   Lynn’s approach to lap traffic was flawless, until the caution came out on lap number 23 when Tebbs and Dylan Proctor of Lock Haven tangled in turns three and four.  On the restart, the motor of Lynn’s car appeared to miss as he did not get as strong of start, allowing Schweikart to take the lead.  Bard, Cochran, and Lutz were able to pass Lynn shuffling him back to fifth.  On lap 27, three cars came together in turns one and two.  Kyle Coldwell and Dakota Schweikart of Linden tangled in turn two and Josh Beamer of Hughesville was also involved as he had no place to go.  All three cars were able to restart, with Dakota Schweikart feeling the biggest disappointment as he started last in the feature event and worked his way up to eighth before being involved in the wreck. 

Schweikart brought the field back for the green flag with Cochran, Bard, Lutz, and thirteenth place starter Jared Zionkowski in the top five.  Lutz passed Bard for third on lap number 29.  Cochran and Lutz tried to chase down Schweikart, but just could not make the pass.  At the checkered flag, Schweikart won by .270 second for this third feature of the season and the biggest races of his sprint car career.  “This has been a great season, I would like to thank the fans, the speedway workers and everyone who has made Clinton County a great place for RaceSavers sprints,” said Schweikart in victory lane.  “Many of the best in the country were here today and that make this win even more special.”  Cochran finished second, Lutz was third, Bard finished fourth and Zionkowski completed the top five.  Sixth through tenth were Derek Hauck, Ken Duke, Jeffrey Weaver, Brad Mellott and Dylan Proctor.  Heat race winners were Tebbs, Dale Schweikart, Bard and Proctor.  The B-main was won by Ken Duke.

Outside pole sitter, Don Russell led the opening two laps of the 40 lap C.W. Smith Memorial event.  By the completion of lap number 3, fourth place starter John Zimmerman took the lead with Russell in second, Steven Reinhardt in third, Brandon Moser in fourth and Robert Tressler in the top five.   Zimmerman begins to catch lapped traffic on lap number twelve with Reinhardt and Moser hoping for the leader to make a mistake.  A caution on lap number 16 for Mike Koser, bunched the field for the restart.   Sixth place starter Kurt Stebbins used the restart to pass Moser and Reinhardt and focused on catching Zimmerman.  The caution waived once again on lap number 21.  The restart found Zimmerman leading Stebbins, Reinhardt, Jason Smith, and Noah Jenson.  As the green flag waived Stebbins’ car started to smoke as the field came back up to full speed.  Five laps later, the caution waived for Rich Sharpsteer and Reinhard, as Stebbins retired his smoking car to the pit area.  The final restart found Zimmerman with Jason Smith on his back bumper followed by Noah Jensen, Moser, and Ray Rothfuss in the top five.  Smith and Jensen battled for the runner up position for several laps.   At the finish, Zimmerman claimed the $1,800 pay day over Smith, Jenson, Moser, and Tommy Dawson.  Sixth through tenth were Rothfuss, Russell, AY Schilling, Bob Buono and Cory Long.  Heat race winners were Reinhardt, Zimmerman, and Moser, while AY Schilling won the B-main.

Mitchell Holden and Logan Hammaker led the field of 270 Micro Sprints to the drop of the green flag.  2020 track champion, Timmy Bittner of Beech Creek advanced from his fourth starting spot to lead the first lap.  The caution waived on lap number 3 when Hammaker spun.   On the restart Bittner led Ethan Spotts, Jeffrey Weaver, Dan Wertman and Kyle Stahl.  Stahl brought out the caution at the races’ midway point.  Bittner opened a several car lengths advantage over the rest of the field.  Weaver took over the runner up position on the final lap.  Third through fifth were Wertman, Buddy Kramer, and Holden.  Sixth through tenth were James Bigler, Levi Brungard, Spotts, Corey Stable and Logan Hammaker.  Heat races were won by Bittner and Wertman

Pole sitter Tyler Watson led the opening laps of the 4 cylinder feature event.   Watson had to contend with the challenges of fellow front row starter Chris Orwig.   Bake Snyder who started sixth moved into the runner up position on lap number four and began to pressure Watson.   Snyder made the pass for the lead at the midway mark of the race.  Orwig took the runner up position lap number 7, with Watson battling back to regain the position on lap number 10.  At the finish, Snyder was the winner over Watson, Orwig, Sam Creveling and Dylan Craft.  Sixth through tenth were Shaun Wise, Scott Englert, Kyle Strouse, Brett Shirk, and Tim Muthler.  Heat races were won by Snyder and Creveling.

The Clinton County Speedway will now prepare for the season finale on Saturday, October 3^rd when the Super Late Models compete for a $5,000 top prize presented by Strouse Electric.  The show will feature time trials and heat races plus a 50 lap feature event.   In addition, the pro stocks will be in competition plus the 270 micro sprint and the 4 cylinders utilizing SCDRA rules.  Gates open at 1PM, Hot laps at 4PM and Racing begins at 4:30PM.

Mill Hall, PA – The Champions were decided in all six divisions on Friday night at the Clinton County Speedway.  Two drivers drove to victory lane to secure their championships, Garret Bard of Wells Tannery was victorious in the RaceSaver Sprint Cars and Matt Cochran of Williamsport in the Limited Late Models.  Other winners of the night included Tommy Dawson in the Pro Stocks, Johnny Smith in the 60ss Micro Sprints, Nick Whitesel in the 270 Micro Sprints and Blake Snyder in the 4-Cylinders. 

Matt Adams and Mike Smith were the front row starters of the Lenny Stroud Jr. Memorial race.  Adams led the first circuit before third place starter, Kevin Probst made a pass for the lead.  Cochran, who started fifth moved into the runner up position by the completion of lap number two.  By the completion of lap number seven, Cochran passed Probst as Jake Piper, Joe Lusk and Bryan Benton ran in the top five.  The leaders began to encounter lapped traffic by lap number 11.  On lap 13, the caution flag waived for Tommy Cordell.  With the restart, Andrew Yoder advanced into the top five and began to make a charge to the front of the field  Yoder took over the second position on lap number 23, but was unable to run down Cochran who won by 1.2 seconds.  Following Yoder was Kevin Probst of Renovo, Jakob Piper and Joe Lusk.  Sixth through tenth were Mike Smith, Brian Benton Chaz Buchinsky, Kyle Bachman and Jamin Chapman.  Heat races were won by Bachinsky and Adams. The win was the second of the season for Cochran, who also earned the 2020 track championship. 

Ryan Lynn took command of the Sprint Car feature event at the drop of the green flag.  Bard, who started third, jumped into the runner up position, with Tylor Cochran, Josh Beamer and Dakota Schweikart in the top five.  Bard, who is currently leading the national and state IMCA RaceSaver points series, was tied with Scott Lutz for the Clinton County Championship.  Lutz who redrew the 7^th starting position for the feature event was running in sixth position.   Bard and Lynn raced side by side for several laps, before Bard was able to take the lead on lap twelve.  Cochran was able to take the runner up position from Lynn on lap number 22 following a caution for Jeffrey Weaver.  Bard was able to claim his second win of the season and the 2020 championship.  Second through fifth were, Tylor Cochran, Ryan Lynn, Dakota Schweikart, and Josh Beamer.  Sixth through tenth were Scott Lutz, Dylan Proctor, Jared Zionkowski, Dale Schweikart and Dave Guss Jr.  Heat races were won by Zionkowski and Beamer. 

Robert Tressler of Lock Haven started on the outside of row number one and led the first five laps of the Pro Stock main event.  Tressler, however had pressure from AJ Stroup and Johnny Bouse.  The top three raced hard trying to wrestle the lead from Tressler.  Going down the backstretch, the trio went three wide for the lead, but Bouse spun to bring out the caution on lap number five.  Stroup used the restart to get by Tressler, as Brandon Moser, Kevin VanAmburg, and Corey Long battled for the top five.  Tommy Dawson moved into the top give on lap number seven.  Dawson advanced one position with every lap and moved into second on lap number 9.  Dawson led lap number 12, but Stroup battled him back to lead lap 13.   Dawson took back the lead on the white flag lap and would hold on for the win over AJ Strop, Kevin VanAmburg, Brandon Moser and AY Schilling.  Sixth through tenth were Noah Jensen, Robert Tressler, Rich Fye, John Myers and Corey Long.  Heat races were won by VanAmburg and Dawson.  Noah Jensen of Nescopeck won his second consecutive pro stock championship, the third of the career.

In the 270s Micro Sprints Nick Whitesel advanced from his third place starting spot to lead the field at the completion of lap one.   Jeffrey Weaver of Lock Haven was the point leader coming into the night’s event.  Weaver advanced from ninth place starting spot and took over second by the completion of lap number four.   At the race’s halfway point, Whitesel led Weaver, Bittner, Troy Whitesel and Kyler Stahl.  On lap number 11 the leaders began to encounter lapped traffic.   One lap later, Whitesel split between two lapped cars going down the front stretch.  As Weaver attempted to make the same move, he spun going into turn number once.  The restart had Whitesel out front followed by Timmy Bitner of Beech Creek, Troy Whitesel, Bobby Sanso and Kyler Stahl. As the checkered flag waived, Whitesel claimed his first win of the year over Biter, Whitesel, Sando and Kyler Stahl.  Sixth through tenth were Kyle Stahl, Denny Rinehimer, Shaun Musser, Jeffrey Weaver and Dan Wertman.   Heat races were won by Sanso and Bitner.   The track championship was won Bitner.     

Mitchell Holden led the opening lap of the 600 Micro Sprint feature.   By the conclusion of lap number 2 Dylan Anderson had taken the lead.   Johnny Smith of Scranton advanced from eleventh position and took over the runner up spot on lap number four.  By the completion of lap number five, Anderson led Smith, Jeff Gyuina Jay Corder, and Jeffrey Weaver.  Anderson and Smith continued to battle for the lead in the closing laps of the race.   Smith made several attempts, and on the final lap, the duo raced side by side into turns three and four once again.   On the final lap, Smith was able to make the pass and won by .017 seconds over Anderson, Jeffrey Weaver, Jeff Gyuina, and Tyson Mowery.  Heat races were won by Cody Hauch and Anderson.   Jeffrey Mowery was declared the 2020 track champion

Kennedey Courter led the opening laps of the Four-Cylinder feature event.  On lap number four Sam Creveling passed Courter for the lead.  A multi-car accident on lap number five slowed the field.   Eighth place starter, Blake Snyder moved into the top five on lap number five and began making a move to the top position.  On lap number seven, he moved into the runner up position and took the lead on lap eight.  Tyler Watson passed Creveling on lap number 10 to take the runner up position.  At the checkered flag it was Snyder over Watson, Maddox Smith, Michael Luther and Michael Boring.  Sixth through tenth were Dylan Kraft, Matt Kauffman, Chris Orwig, Shawn Wise and Creveling.   Heat races were won by Smith, Watson and Snyder.  Maddox Smith won the 2020 track championship.

The Stroud Family provided bonus money for all six divisions in competition and special opening ceremonies were held in honor of Lenny Stroud Jr.   Several drivers took a collection of funds for two families in the racing community.  A total of $1,800 was raised and split between the Rick Eckert Family for his grandson and the Phil Miller Family for his daughter. 

The Clinton County Speedway switches to Saturdays for the final two races of the 2020 season.  Coming up on Saturday, September 19^th is the Nittany 40 Championship for the RaceSaver Sprint Cars, paying $800 to win and $400 to start.  The event is co-sanctioned by the Allegheny Sprint Series, the Laurel Highlands Sprint Series and the PA Sprint Series.  Drivers will qualify through time trials and heat races.  A non-qualifier’s event is also on the schedule.   In addition, the Pro Stocks will compete in the C.W. Smith Memorial 40 lapper paying $1,800 to win.  Pro Stocks will also qualify with time trials and heat races.  The 270 Micro Sprint and the 4 Cylinders will complete the four division show.  Gates open at 1PM, Hot laps at 4PM and Racing begins at 4:30

Mill Hall, PA – Aaron Jacobus of Corning NY topped the field of 26 RaceSaver Sprint Cars Friday night at the Clinton County Speedway.  Noah Jensen of Nescopeck won his second Pro Stock feature of the season.  Timmy Bitner of Beech Creek was victorious in both the 270 and 600 feature events.  Sam Creveling was the winner of the 4 cylinder division.

Aaron Jacobus started on the front row by luck of the draw.  Jacobus led the field as they came out of turn four to lead lap one over Larry McVay of Bordentown, NJ.  By lap number seven, Jacobus, McVay, Dale Schweikart of Linden, Josh Beamer of Picture Rocks, and Dakota Schweikart of Linden began to encounter lapped traffic.  The 3/8^th mile oval created excitement with sprint cars racing for position around all four corners of the speedway.   

The events only caution came out on lap number 11 for Reed Thompson who stopped on the speedway.  On the restart, Jacobus held off the challenges from McVay and Schweikart who were in a contested battle for second.  Schweikart won that battle on lap number thirteen.   Tylor Cochran of Williamsport, who started eleventh, moved into the top five at the race’s mid-way point, and took the fourth position one circuit later.  On lap 16, the leaders again were in heavy lapped traffic.  Schweikart began to gain on Jacobus, but how each driver navigated through lapped traffic could be the deciding factor of the race.  With 2 laps remaining, Jacob made a power move to put a few lapped cars between him and Schweikart as the duo exited turn number four.  At the checkered flag it was Jacobus over Schweikart, Cochran, McVay and Scott Lutz.  Sixth through tenth were Dakota Schweikart, Josh Beamer, Garret Bard, Ryan Lynn, and Dylan Proctor.  Heat races were won by Proctor, McVay and Jacobus.

Marc Bitler of Williamsport led the opening laps of the Pro Stock feature.  Noah Kissinger battled with Bitler as Corey Long and Rich Fye were also in contention.   Noah Jensen, who started ninth, worked this way up through the field and broke into the top five on lap number three.  Two circuits later, Jensen was pressuring Bitler for the top position.  At the mid-way point of the race, Jensen led Long, Bitler, Kissinger, and AY Schilling.   As Jensen tried to distance himself from the field, the Pro Stocks drivers in 2^nd through seventh jockeyed for position.  AY Schilling passed Bitler for the third spot on lap number 12 And Ray Rothfuss advanced into the top five in the final laps of the race.  At the finish, it was Jensen over Long, Schilling, Bitler and Rothfuss.   AJ Stroup finished sixth followed by Noah Kissinger, Tommy Dawson, Fye and Kevin VanAmburg.  Heat race winners were won by Shilling and Long. 

Timmy Bitner of Beech Creek had a stellar performance during the night by winning both the 270 and 600 Micro feature events.  Nick Whitesel lead the opening circuit of the 270 micro sprint feature.  Doug Reinard took the lead at the completion of lap number two.  On lap number four the red flag came when Jeffrey Weaver of Lock Haven rolled his sprint car in turn number four.   On the restart, Bitner who started ninth made the winning pass for the lead.   Whitesel, Reinard, Spotts and Jeff Haefke battled for the top five.   The caution waved on lap number 8 when Buddy Kramer and Levi Brungard stopped on the speedway.  That provided Whitesel and Reinard an opportunity to restart on Bitner’s back bumper.   Bitner passed a lapped car on the white flag lap and went on to record the win over Whitesel, Ethan Spotts, Jeff Haefke and Troy Whitesel.  Six through tenth were Dan Wertman, Logan Hammaker, Mitchell Holden, Kyler Shal and Dustin Roberts.  Heat races were won by Nick Whitesel, Troy Whitesel, and Weaver.

Bitner and Trevor Teats started on the front row of the 600 Micro Sprint feature event.  A four car accident on the opening lap in turn one brought out the red flag involving Garret Bard, Derek Swartz, Dan Tripoli, and Shawn Doebrick.  Mikey Smith of Scranton took the lead on the restart and appeared to be the fastest car of the night.  As Smith came through turns three and four, something on his car broke and ended his night.  Bitner then inherited the lead with AJ Bast, Jeffrey Weaver, Teats, and Tyson Mowery in the top five.   On lap number 6 the caution came out for Jeffrey Weaver.   As the race restarted, Bitner led Teats, Johnny Smith, Mowery, and Jeff Gyuina.  The top five racing order remained unchanged in the final laps, providing Bitner with his second win of the night.  Sixth through tenth were Mitchell Holden, AJ Bast, Weaver, Doebrick and Dermot Thompson.  Heat races were won by Bard and Weaver

Eric Miller and Jonathan Stringfellow led the full field of 4-Cylinders to the green flag.  Stringfellow led the opening laps of the race, before 4^th place starter Sam Crevling took the lead on lap number 4.   The caution waved on lap number five for Virgil Meyer and again on lap number seven for Tim Muthler.   Creveling was strong on both restarts to hold off his challengers.  When the checkered flag waived, Creveling edged out Josh Morton for the win. Sterling Kepner was third over Tyler Watson and Michael Luther.  Sixth through tenth were Kennedey Courter, Scott Englert, Dylan Craft, Eric Miller, and Virgil Meyer.

In the Streetcar drag racing competition, Jeremy Swank of Somerset quickly became the crowd favorite.  Swank competed in a Dodge Neon in a field dominated by pick-up trucks.  A single elimination bracket was used to determine the finalist for the one lap drag race.  In the finals, Swank lined up again Stewart Majewsky of Houtzdale who was driving a Chevy 3500 HD Truck.  Majewsky had the lead as the duo exited turn two.  However, Swank carried his momentum out of the turns and caught the truck going down the back stretch. Swank made a pass for the lead as they entered turns three and four. The crowd cheered for Swank and his neon as he raced to the finish line to earn a trophy and $200 cash prize.  

The Clinton County Speedway returns to racing this Friday night for a 6 division racing program. The event presented by RC Bowman Excavating will feature the Lenny Stroud Jr. Memorial.  The Limited Late Model will race for $1,200 to win.  The RaceSaver Sprint Cars, Pro Stocks, 270 Micro Sprints, 600 Micro Sprints and 4 Cylinders will all compete for an additional $100 bonus.  All speedway championships will be decided as it is the final points event of the season.  Gates will open at 5:15PM and Racing will begin at 7:30PM.  For more information, visit www.clintoncountyspeedway.com or visit the speedway on Facebook

Mill Hall, PA – The Clinton County Fair Association is pleased to announce some big shows scheduled for late September and early October to close out the 2020 season.  The Fair Association took over the weekly operations of the speedway and has held 10 races since opening on June 26th.

The first big race will take place on Saturday September 19^th featuring the RaceSaver Sprint Cars and the Pro Stocks.  The Nittany Championship for the RaceSaver Sprint Cars is triple sanctioned by the Laurel Highlands Sprint Series, PA Sprint Series, and the Allegheny Sprint Series.   “We are expecting drivers from all three series and some of the best RaceSaver drivers ranked in the state and the nation,” says Race Promoter Jason McCahan.  “The event will pay $1,000 to the winner of the 40 lap main event.  Drivers will qualify through time trials and heat races.” Non-Qualifiers will also compete in a complete feature if more than 45 cars are in attendance. 

The current national RaceSaver Sprint Car points leader, Garrett Bard of Wells Tannery has been a regular at the speedway and has one victory so far this season at the 3/8^th mile oval.  John Walp of Wapwallopen and Larry McVey of Bordentown, NJ are ranked second and third respectively behind Bard in the State of Pennsylvania’s point standing and have been contenders at Clinton County Speedway.  Bard is also the current point leader at Clinton County with Scott Lutz of Jonestown in second, Dale Schweikart of Linden in third, Dylan Proctor of Lock Haven in fourth and Jared Zionkowski of Wyalusing rounding out the top five.  Schweikart currently has two wins this season. Bard, Zionkowski, Jeffrey Weaver of Lock Haven currently have one victory each.    

In addition to the Sprint Cars on September 19th, the Pro Stocks will compete in the C.W. Smith Memorial paying $1,800 to win.  Smith from Williamsport competed in both ARCA and NASCAR.  “We are grateful for the opportunity to work with the Smith Family to honor C.W. and his racing accomplishments,” says McCahan.  The Pro Stocks will compete in a 40 lap main event and will also qualify with time trials and heat races.

“Our Pro-Stocks have been very competitive this year,” adds McCahan.  Seven different drivers have visited victory lane including Robert Tressler of Lock Haven (2), Bradley Benton of Duncansville (2), AJ Stroup of Evandale (2), Kevin VanAmburg of Lock Haven, Tommy Dawson of Wapwallopen, Brandon Moser of Millerstown, and Noah Jensen of Nescopeck.

The two events will be the largest races for the Pro Stocks and RaceSaver Sprint Cars.  Also, on the program will be the 270 Micro Sprints and the 4-Cylinders. Gates will open at 1PM with hot laps at 4PM and racing beginning at 4:30PM.  Sunday, September 20^th will be a rain date.

On Saturday, October 3^rd, the Super Late Models will compete in a $5,000 to win event presented by Strouse Electric of Bellefonte.  It has been several years since the speedway hosted a Super Late Model race.  The last large race of this magnitude was hosted in 2017 when Andrew Yoder of Middleburg won over a field of 50 plus cars.  The event will be the largest payout of the season for the speedway. Luke Hoffner of Turbotville is the all-time Super Late Model feature winner with 40 career wins.   

The Pro Stocks and 270 Micro Sprints will be in competition paying $500 to win each feature.  The 4 Cylinders will run under the SDRCA rules package and pay $750 to win.   

Gates will open at 1PM with hot laps at 4PM and racing begins at 4:30PM.  A rain date is set for Saturday, October 10^th.

Mill Hall, PA – Afternoon showers saturated the fairgrounds forcing speedway officias to cancel the Friday night racing program.   It was only the second rain cancelation of the season since the fair announced the opening of the speedway in June. 

The race event was to honor the memory of Lenny Stroud Jr.  The Stroud Family and speedway officials said they will honor him on September 11^th with a six-division show.  The Limited Late Models will compete for $1,200 to win.  The RaceSaver Sprint Cars, Pro Stocks, 270 Micro Sprints, 600 Micro Sprints, and 4 Cylinders will all race for an additional $100 to win compliments of the Stroud Family. 

This coming Friday, September 4^th the speedway will feature a five division racing program with the Laurel Highlands RaceSaver Sprint Cars.  The Sprint Cars will use the 4^th and 11^th races as an opportunity to prepare for the Nittany Championship paying $1,000 to win on Saturday, September 19^th.   The Nittany Championship is expected to draw many of the top ranked RaceSaver Sprint Cars in the state.  In addition, the Pro Stocks, 270s, 600s, and 4-Cylinders will be part of the racing program.

Mill Hall, PA – Garrett Bard of Wells Tannery parked his RaceSaver Sprint Car in victory lane Friday night at the Clinton County Speedway.  It was Bard’s first career win in a full size sprint car at the 3/8^th mile oval.  Bard has previously visited victory lane in his 600 Micro Sprint and is ranked second on the all- time 600 Micro Sprint winners’ list.  Other winners on Friday night included Robert Tressler of Lock Haven in the Pro Stocks, Mikey Smith of Scranton in the 600 Micro Sprints, Jeffrey Weaver of Lock Haven in the 270 Micro Sprints and Sterling Kepner of Muncy in the Four Cylinder division.

By luck of the draw, Bard started on the pole position along-side Cogan Station’s Matt Tebbs for the start of the 25 lap main event.  Bard took the lead at the drop of the green flag over Tebbs, Tylor Cochran of Williamsport, Ian Cumens of Lyndell and Josh Beamer of Picture Rocks.  The red flag came out on lap number three when Jeffrey Weaver of Lock Haven hit the front stretch wall.  Following the restart, Bard began to distance himself from Tebbs and the rest of the field.  Larry McVay of Bordentown, NJ who started ninth, moved into the top five by the completion of lap number six.   Jared Zionkowski’s car brought out the caution of lap number 8 after suffering a flat tire.  The restart bunched the field once again with Bard, Tebbs, Cochran, McVay and Cumens in the top five.  While Bard tried to distance himself from the field, McVay used the opportunity to pass Cochran and moved into the runner up position at the race’s midway point.  McVay started to reel in Bard as the field began to encounter lapped traffic.  A three car incident involving Dale Schweikart, Matt Tebbs and Dylan Proctor brought out the race’s final caution of lap number 14.  Bard restarted the race with McVay in second, Cumens, Cochran and Wapwallopen John Walp in the top five.  Bard continued to lead every lap on his way to the victory over McVay, Cumens, Cochran and Walp.  Bard, who is ranked second in the IMCA’s national points standing said “it is nice to finally get a win here at Clinton County.  I knew McVay was right behind me and I was lucky to hold him off.” Sixth through tenth were Scott Lutz, Ryan Lynn, Beamer, Proctor and David Guss, Jr.   Heat races were won by Weaver and Cochran.

Jason Smith of Williamsport started on the outside of the front row and jumped into the early lead of the Pro Stock feature event.  Smith led until lap number five when Tim Shirk spun to bring out the caution flag.  Third place starter, Robert Tressler used the restart to his advantage and passed Smith in turns one and two.  At the halfway point, Tressler had a four car length’s lead, while Smith, Tommy Dawson, Ay Schilling and Noah Jensen were in a contested battled for the second through fifth positions.  Tressler lead the remaining laps to claim his second victory of the season over Smith, Dawson, Schilling and Jensen.  Sixth through tenth were AJ Stroup, Mark Bitler, Corey Long, Bradley Benton, and Danny Jensen.  Qualifiers were won by Smith and Schilling.

Timmy Bittner of Beech Creek and Derek Swartz lead the field of 600 Micro Sprints to the green flag.  On lap number four the caution came out for a multi-car accident in turn number four. Following the restart, Mikey Smith lead the field over Tyson Mowery, Johnny Smith, Garret Bard and Jeffrey Weaver.   Smith continued began to encounter lapped traffic on lap number twelve.   Smith navigated through the lapped cars to claim his first win of the season.  Tyson Mowery finished second, Garret Bard was third, Mason Peters was fourth and Jeffrey Weaver finished fifth. Sixth through tenth were Johnny Smith, Jeff Gyuina, Mitchell Holden, Timmy Bittner and Corey Brungard.  Heat races were won by Cody Hauck and Johnny Smith. 

Nick Whitesel and Shaun Musser led the full field of 270 micro sprints to the green flag for their 15 lap main event.   At the completion of lap number one, the red flag waved for Mackenzie Hixon who rolled onto her side.  Following the restart, Jeffrey Weaver and Timmy Bittner raced to the front of the field to take the top two positions.  Troy Whitesel, who started eighth was quickly catching the leaders, but drifted high on the back stretch and lost several positions as he regained control of his car. Bittner made several attempts to take the lead from Weaver.  The leaders began to encounter lapped traffic by the half-way point of the race.  On lap number ten, Weaver led Bittner, Logan Hammaker, Denny Rinehimer, and Troy Whitesel. Whitesel moved into the fourth position on lap number eleven. The event’s final caution flag waved on lap number 13 setting up a two lap dash to the finish.  Weaver was able to hold off Bittner for the win, Whitesel rallied for a third place finish, with Rinehimer and Hammaker completing the top five.  Sixth through tenth were Michael McGhee, Ethan Spotts, Zachery Glass, Wyatt Rotz and Hunter Zimmerman.  Heat race winners were Rotz, Rinehimer and Whitesel. 

Scott Englert led the opening lap of the 4 Cylinder feature event.  Fourth place starter Kennedey Courter passed Englert to lead lap two, with Englert reclaiming the lead on the third circuit.  Ninth place starter, Sterling Kepner worked this way up through the field and passed Englert at the conclusion of lap number five.  The leaders began to encounter lapped traffic on lap number seven.  Tyler Watson began to pressure Kepner for the top spot in the final laps with Englert, Chris Orwig and Blake Snyder racing in the top five.  The top two raced side by side as the white flag waved.  Kepner held off Watson for this second win of the season.  Englert, Snyder and Orwig completed the top five.  Sixth through tenth were Michael Luther, Skylar Witchley, Chelsie Harris AJ Stephens and Kevin Stetchock.  Heat races were won by Maddox Smith and Blake Snyder.

The Clinton County Speedway will host the 3^rd annual Lenny Stroud Jr Memorial Races on Friday August 21^st.  The race will feature the Limited Late Models in a $1,200 to win event.  An additional $100 bonus will be paid to the winners in the Pro Stocks, 270s, 600s, and 4 Cylinders.  Gates will open at 5:15, Hot laps are at 7PM and Racing begins at 7:30PM  For more information about the speedway and upcoming events, visit the speedway website at www.clintoncountyspeedway.com or follow the speedway on Facebook.
