Kissinger Wins Second of Season at Clinton County Speedway

Mill Hall, PA – Ryan Kissinger claimed his second victory of the season on Friday night at the Clinton County Speedway in the RaceSaver Sprint Car division. Brandon Moser won the Pro Stocks, Timmy Bitter won the 270 Micros, Johnny Smith won the 600 Micros and Coty Maines was the winner of the Four Cylinders.

Ryan Kissinger drew the pole postion for the night’s 25 lap main event. He quickly took the lead over second place starter, Tylor Cochran. By lap number five, Kissinger had caught the tail of field, with Cochran, Erick Knopp, Jeffrey Weaver, and Dale Schweikart running in the top five. Kissing weaved his way through traffic utilizing both the high and low grooves of the speedway. A caution occurred on lap number eleven involving two cars. Following the restart, Kissinger continued to lead Cochran as Weaver moved into the third spot.

On lap number 17, Johnny Smith moved into fourth and Josh Beamer moved into the top five. Kissinger maneuvered though the lapped traffic to claim the victory over Cochran, Weaver, Beamer, and Smith. Sixth through tenth were Dale Schweikart, Dustin Prettyleaf, Logan Jones, Dakota Schweikart, and Daryl Stimeling. Heat races for the 28 sprinters were won by Jeffrey Weaver, Reed Thompson, Jared Zionkowski and Logan Jones.

After taking the checkered flag in the third heat race, Jared Zionkowski stopped in turn two after his car erupted in flames. Zionkowski’s car had a fuel leak, which caught fire. Emergency personnel put the fire out, but Zionkowski received burns and was taken to the Leigh Valley Hospital’s Burn Center. He was released the next day and he reports he will be sore for a while; however, he plans to be back racing later this year.

Front row starter, Gary Mellott led the opening laps of the Pro Stock feature event. Fifth place starter Brandon Moser moved into the runner up position with Rich Fye, Robert Tressler and AY Schilling in the top five. On lap number eight, Moser passed Mellot for the lead, as Tressler moved into third. The feature went nonstop, with Moser leading the remaining laps for the victory. Mellott finished second, Tressler was third, AY Schilling was fourth and Fye was fifth. Sixth through tenth were Cory Long, Noah Kissinger, Marc Bitler, Todd Geyer, and Mike Gray. Heats were won by Long and Mellott

Fourth place starter, Timmy Bitter led the first lap of the 270 Micro Sprint feature. On lap number five, Bitter was being challenged by Jeffrey Weaver and Cody Siegel. On lap number six, Jeff Haefake moved into fourth. Bitter led every lap, to claim the win over Weaver, Seigel, Haefake and Nick Whitesel. Sixth through tenth were Logan Hammaker, Skeetz Hockenbrock, Mac Wert, Luke Hess, and Tyler Groft. Heat races were won by Weaver and Siegel.

In the 600 Micro Sprints, the Smith brothers Johnny Smith and Mikey Smith battled for the lead at the drop of the green flag. By lap number five, Johnny led Mikey as Brain Kramer ran third followed by Timmy Bittner and Jeffrey Weaver. On lap number 10 Weaver moved up to fourth and Preston Brown moved up to fifth. The event went nonstop with the Smith brothers putting on an exciting race. At the end it was Johnny Smith over Mikey Smith, Kramer was third, Brown finished fourth and Weaver was fifth. Sixth through tenth were Bittner, Trevor Teats, Sierra Hauck, Mitchell Holden, and James Thomas. Heats were won by J. Smith and Sierra Hauck.

John Baney led the first three laps of the 4 Cylinder main event. Coty Maines challenged Baney and took the lead on lap number four. Following a restart on lap number six, Blake Snyder wrestled the top spot from Maines. The leaders began to encounter lapped traffic on lap number ten, with Snyder leading Maines, Joey Snook, Adam Harris and Anthony Potter. The top five remained unchanged at the finish, however, Snyder failed a post-race inspection giving Maines the win. Snook was second followed by Harris Potter and Keith Haagen. Sixth through tenth were Andrew Rickets, Chloe Smith, Bryun Hackenberg, Matt Weaver and Brett Shirk. Heat races were won by John Baney, Hunter Flook, and Tim Muthler.

The Clinton County Speedway returns this Friday and Saturday night with a big 2 day show. On Friday night the Race Saver Sprint Cars will compete in the “Founders Cup” honoring founding speedway promoters Tedd Reitz and Del Shank. The winner of the event will be a guaranteed starter for Saturday’s event. In addition to the sprints, will be the Pro Stocks, the 270 Micros, 600 Micros and the 4 Cylinders. The 270 winner will also be guaranteed a starting spot for Saturday’s event. Friday Gates will open at 5PM, Racing at 7PM.

On Saturday night, NAPA/Toner Auto Parts will present the Nittany 40 for the RaceSaver Sprints, paying $1,000 to win and $400 to start. It is the biggest event of the season for the RaceSaver Sprints. The 270 Micro Sprints will also be competing in a $1,000 to win event. The Pro Stock and 4 Cylinders and a fireworks show will be included during the night. Gates on Saturday will open at 4PM with Racing at 6PM.
