Gomola Wins His First of the Season
Mill Hall, PA – Jacob Gomola of Guys Mills, PA was victorious Friday at in the RaceSaver Sprint division at the Clinton County Speedway. Other winners included Jeffrey Weaver of Lock Haven in the 270 Micro Sprints, AJ Hoffman of Richfield in the Pro Stocks, Matt Weaver of Madisonburg in the 4 Cylinders and Landon Benner of Danville in the Jr. Sprints.
Jeffrey Weaver and Matt Tebbs brought the RaceSaver sprints cars to the green flag. Weaver took the lead at the drop of the green flag with Tebbs, Gomola, Timmy Bittner and Dale Schweikart running in the top give. A lap six caution occurred when Austin Greenland’s car stopped on the track. Weaver maintained the lead as the battle for second between Tebbs and Bittner became more intense. On lap fourteen the cars entered turn one, Tebbs and Bittler tangled causing both cars to flip. Both drivers walked away from the accident. As the field prepared to restart the event, Weaver’s car had a mechanical issue forcing his car to the pit area. Gomola inherited the lead with eleven laps remaining. On the restart, Gomola was leading Jim Pattock, Dale Schweikart, John Walp and Cory Stabley. Schweikart passed Pattock for the second position on lap number 19. Gomola would lead the remaining laps to earn his first win of the season. Schweikart was second followed by Pattock, Walp, and Stabley.
Marc Bitler and AY Schilling started on the front row of the Pro Stock feature event. Schilling would lead the first lap, until fourth place starter AJ Hoffman made a bid for the lead. By lap five, Bittler moved into the second position. Cory Long, who started fifth, moved into the third position on lap number six. By lap number ten, Hoffman was leading Bitler, Long, Schilling and Larry Knight. With three laps reaming Long moved into the runner up position but couldn’t chase down Hoffman. The top five were Hoffman, Long, Bitler, Schilling and Knight. Jeffrey Weaver, who has had mechanical issues with the 270Micro sprint the first two weeks of the season, started on pole for the A-Main event. Weaver took the lead with Jillian Maurer and Cory Stabley in pursuit. Seventh place starter, Brayden Spencer moved into the top three on lap number seven. As Weaver began to encounter lapped traffic, Spencer was able to pass Maurer to take over the second position. At the finish, Weaver crossed first over Spenser, Cory Stabley, Carter Hime and Mason McAndrew.
In Four Cylinder competition, Matt Weaver started on the pole and would lead every lap for the victory. Coty Maines would take the second position by lap number five, with Kevin Trimpey, Zak Kline and Larry Beachel in the top five. The red flag waved on lap number 7 when Garrett Lucas rolled his car in turn two. Lucas was okay. Weaver held off the challenges by Maines and Kline to win his first feature of the season. Maines, Kline, Beachel and Trimpey completed the top five.
Joey Zambotti led the first three laps of the Jr. Sprint feature event. Landon Benner then took command of the field. Fourth place starter Tyreece Bowmaster took second place on lap number six. Benner would earn his first win of the year over Bowmaster, Carson McFerren, Zambotti and Emery Macgill.
