Rhodes becomes 3rd different winner at Clinton County Speedway

Zach Rhodes of McVeytown became the third different winner in the River Valley Builders RaceSaver sprint cars on Friday night at the Clinton County Speedway. It was the third of his career at the 1/3 mile oval. AY Schilling of Linden won the Pro Stocks, Mason McAndrew of Apollo won the 270 Micros, AJ Hoffner of East Berlin won the 4 Cylinders and Adilyn Bathurts of Aaronsburg won the Jr. Sprints.

Beech Creek’s Timmy Bittner started on the pole of the 25 lap River Valley Builders RaceSaver Sprint car main event. Bittner took the lead from fellow front row starter Mike Alleman. Zach Rhoades, who started third, took over the second position by completion of lap one. At lap number five, Bittner was leading Rhoades, Matt Tebbs, Jarret Cavalett, and Josh Beamer. A caution occurred on lap number six when Rich Spaide stopped with mechanical issues.

Bittner was leading the field at a blistering pace, with Rhoades and Tebbs in tow. Jim Pattock, who started seventh, broke into the top five by lap number nine. Pattock would take the fourth spot from Beamer on lap number twelve. On lap 15, Bittner was in lapped traffic with Rhodes, Tebbs, Pattock and Beamer in the top five. Pattock advanced into the third position on lap seventeen. The caution flag waved on lap number 19 for Jarrett Cavalett. While under caution, Bittner went to the pit area with a brake issue. Rhodes inherited the lead with five laps remaining. Rhodes led the field to the green flag with Pattock, Tebbs, and Beamer in the top five. Pattock raced hard with Rhodes and was able to get alongside him in the closing laps but didn’t have enough to get by Rhodes who earned his first win of the year. Pattock finished second, followed by Tebbs, Beamer, and John Braim. Sixth through tenth were Reed Thompson, Dale Schweikart, Michael Petock, Nathan Pierce and Cory Stabley

Larry Knight started on the outside of the front row of the Pro Stock feature event. Knight would lead the first three laps, until AY Schilling who started fourth took the lead. Cory Long, who has won the first three races of the season and started sixth, was closing in on Schilling by lap number five. The top two battled it out as AJ Hoffman made it a three car race. With five laps remaining, Schilling was being challenged by Long with Hoffman in third followed by Ron Ergott and Brent Gordner. Schilling held off the challenges to earn his first win of the year.

Jillan Maurer led the first circuit of the 270 Micro feature event. A three car incident occurred on lap number two; all drivers were ok. Mac Wert took over the lead on lap number three with Jeffrey Weaver and McAndrew in the top three. A caution on lap number six occurred for Weaver when his car stopped with mechanical issues. Following the restart McAndrew took over the top spot. On the final lap, Wert was involved in a three car incident in turn two. At the finish McAndrew was the winner over-Garrison Zook, Denny Rineheimer, Matt Dixson Sr and Colton Guiher.

Zak Kline led the first three laps of the 4-Cylinder feature. Sixth place starter AJ Hoffner passed Kline by the completion of lap number three. Justin Willamson took the runner up spot, shuffling Kline back to third. By the completion of lap number ten, Hoffner was leading Williamson, Kline, Matt Weaver and Sam Regitz. Williamson closed in on Hoffner and attempted a pass coming out of turn number four on the final lap. Hoffner held on by a margin of .146 seconds to earn the win over Williamson, Kline, Weaver and Regitz.

Adilyn Bathurst led every lap of the Rising Starts Jr Sprint cars. Landon Benner and Corbey Bowmaster completed the top three.
