Rain Forces Clinton County Officials to Cancel – Big Events on Tap Including 410 Sprints
Mill Hall, PA – Clinton County Speedway officials had to cancel the Friday, July 16th racing event as a storm came across the fairgrounds soaking the speedway surface. Rain check will be honored for the next three races. The speedway will be closed on Friday, July 23rd for a “racers summer vacation.” During this time, crews will continue to make improvements to the speedway including the installation of new fencing.
The next event schedule will be on July 30th with a five division show featuring the Laurel Highlands RaceSaver Sprint cars, the Pro Stocks, the 270 Micro Sprints, the 600 Micro Sprints, and the Four Cylinders. The Four-Cylinders will also run the remainder of an event that was curfewed out a few weeks ago with 2 laps complete. In addition, there will be a pre-race concert featuring the popular duo of Mike + Cass.
The Speedway is also preparing for major events in the month of August. The annual Clinton County Fair will feature 2 race events. On Wednesday, August 4th the 270 and 600 Micro Sprints will compete in $500 to win events. In addition, the Pro Stock and Four Cylinders will be in action. On Friday
August 6th Century 21 and Real Estate agent Bob Boob will present a kids night featuring a $500 cash and candy scramble for kids 12 and under. Racing will be the Limited Late Models, Pro Stocks, 270 Micro Sprints, 600 Micro Sprints and the 4 Cylinders.
The Laurel Highlands RaceSaver Sprint cars will be back for racing on Friday, August 13th with the Pro Stocks, 270 Micro Sprints, 600 Micro Sprints, and Four Cylinders. This is the first race of a two race weekend.
On Saturday, August 14th the 410 Sprint cars will make their first appearance in over a decade. NAPA Auto Parts and Toner Auto Parts will present the $4,000 to win – $400 to start event. Several drivers from Central and Western Pennsylvania as well as New York have expressed an interest in this special event that will also include the Pro Stocks and Four Cylinders. “This is the first time that the 410 Sprint Cars have been at Clinton County for more than 10 years,” says Race Promoter Jason McCahan. “The fans are excited for this show, and we hope to make it an annual event.” Clinton County has held some big races for the 410s since it opened in 1989, including some events sanctioned by the All Stars, but this is the first time a race of this caliber has been held under the lights.
