The first caution of the night occurred on lap number twelve when Tyler Bear spun in turn two.   While under the caution, Spithaler’s brakes caught on fire ending his night of competition.  Smith again performed a flawless restart to pull away from Bright, with Dietrich in third and Mark Smith moved into fourth and Gallagher in fifth.   Smith continued to pace the field, while Bright, Dietrich and Mark Smith were in a contested battle for the second, third and fourth positions.   The caution came back out on lap number 26, when Joe Kata’s car stopped in turns three and four.   Smith was able to maintain the lead while Bright and Dietrich were in a fierce battle for second.  Dietrich would make a pass for the second position in turns one and two, while Bright would make a comeback down the back stretch and reclaim the spot as the duo exited turn number four.   On lap number 31, Dietrich was able to secure the runner up position forcing Bright to battle with Mark Smith.   Two late race cautions bunched the field back up with two laps remaining.   Smith held off Dietrich for the win, over Bright, Mark Smith and Darin Gallagher.  Sixth through tenth were Davie Franke, Ryan Kissinger, Mike Thompson who was the hard charger coming from the 24th position, followed by Derek Locke and Austin Bishop.

In Pro Stock competition, AJ Stroup and Robert Tressler started on the front row for the 15 lap main event.  Stroup led Tressler on the opening lap.  On the second lap three cars tangled to bring out the caution.  Following the restart, fifth place starter Cory Long managed to take the second spot from Tressler.  On lap number 7, Brandon Moser passed Tressler for third, as the top four cars were in a close battle for the lead.  A few laps later Tommy Dawson began to battle Tressler for the fourth spot.  Stroup continued to lead every lap to claim the victory over Long.  Dawson passed Moser on the final circuit to take the third position, Moser was fourth and Tressler completed the top five.   Moser and Stroup won the qualifiers.

Jason Smith led the opening lap of the Pro Stock feature event.  By lap number two, third place starter AY Schilling took over the top position.   Noah Jensen who started fourth moved into second and passed Schilling for the lead by the completion of lap number six.  At the halfway point of the event, Jensen was leading Schilling, Corey Long, Ray Rothfuss and Brad Benton.   A few late race cautions bunched the field on Jensen’s reach bumper, but he was able to hold off the challenges of Schilling and Long.  Rich Fye moved into the top five on lap number ten.  Jensen continued to claim the victory over Schilling, Long, Rothfuss and Fye.   Sixth through tenth were Todd Geyer, Rooster Peters, Johnny Bouse,  Kris Orwig Sr and  Tim Shirk.  Moser and Schilling won the heats.

On the opening lap of the four-cylinder feature, 2 cars rolled over in turn number two.   Following the complete restart, pole sitter Gage Wilson led the first four laps.  Maddox Smith advanced from sixth and led lap number five.   On the following lap eighth place starter Jimmy Moyer took the lead from Smith.   Blake Snyder took over second with two laps remaining.  Moyer claimed the win over Snyder, Garrett Watkins, Scott Englert and Shawn Stahl. Sixth through tenth were Dakota Hamilton, Andrew Ricketts, Coty Maines, Zach Rill and Hunter Flook.

In the make up four cylinder event, Maddox Smith led the early laps of the race.  Dylan Craft and Blake Snyder were right on Smith’s bumper in a three car race for the lead.   Snyder passed Smith on lap number nine as John Bower and Jimmy Moyer moved into the top five.   Moyer worked his way up to second on lap number 11 but couldn’t catch Snyder.   Snyder claimed the win over Moyer and Craft.  Scott Engler was fourth and Smith was fifth.

Bard Outduels Walp for Clinton County Speedway Thriller

Mill Hall – Garrett Bard of Wells Tannery battled Wapwallopen’s John Walp for the win with a stout field of RaceSaver Sprint cars on Friday night at the Clinton County Speedway.  The win was the third of the season for Bard at the 3/8th mile oval.   Ray Rothfuss of Muncy won the Pro Stocks, Jeffrey Weaver of Lock Haven won the 270 Micro Sprints, Johnny Smith of Scranton won the 600 Micro Sprints and Dylan Craft of Muncy Valley won the Four Cylinders.

Twenty-seven RaceSaver Sprint Cars signed in for the competition on Friday night.   Austin Greenland and Ian Cummings brought the field up to speed at the drop of the green flag.  Fourth place starter, John Walp used the outside line to power to the front to lead the opening lap with sixth place starter Dylan Proctor of Lock Haven following in the runner up position.   Bard who started tenth was also using the top side of the speedway to advance up through the field.   By lap number five, Bard was in second with Josh Beamer, Procter and Greenland running in the top five.   Two cautions on laps seven and eight slowed the field briefly, with Walp being strong on both restarts.

On the eleventh circuit, Walp, Bard and Beamer maintained the top three positions while fifth place starter Devin Brennan and twelfth place starter Jared Zionkowski cracked into the top five as the leaders were weaving through lapped traffic.   On lap number eighteen, Bard passed Walp while in lapped traffic to make the winning move.   The final caution of the race occurred on lap number 21 when Beamer’s car stopped on the speedway.   Bard held off Walp’s challenges on the restart to claim the victory over Walp Brennan, Zionkowski and Dominic Melair.  Sixth through tenth were Scott Lutz, Austin Greenland, Dylan Proctor, who was called for a jump on the last restart, Jeffrey Weaver and Mike Melair.  Heat races were won by Dustin Prettyleaf, Dominic Melair, and Beamer.  Weaver won the B-Main.

Ray Rothfuss started on the outside of the front row and commanded the Pro Stock feature main event.  The event was red flagged on lap number four when Robert Tressler tangled with two cars and rolled down the front straightaway.  All drivers were ok.   Following the restart, Rothfuss continued to pace the field with AJ Hoffman running second, followed by Corey Long, Brandon Moser and Noah Jensen.  Long took over the runner up position on the final lap, Moser was second followed by Kris Orwig and Rich Fye.  Heats were won by John Bouse and Robert Tressler.

Aiden Adams took the lead from his second starting position in the 270 Micro Sprint feature.   Adams held off the early race challenges from pole sitter Tyler Clowes.  Jeffrey Weaver and Skeetz Hockenbrock, worked their way up through the field and as both started deep in the back.  Weaver moved into the runner up position on lap number nine, as Hockenbrock took over fourth.   Following a lap twelve restart, Adams spun in turns one and two from an apparent mechanical failure forcing him to the pits and giving the lead to Weaver.  Weaver cruised to the victory over Hockenbrock.  Shane Musser charged from sixteenth to finish third, Dan Wertman was fourth and Cory Stable was fifth.  Heats were won by Weaver, Shawn McAndrew, and Adams.

Treavor Teats started on the pole of the 600 Micro Sprint feature event and took the early lead.  Third place starter Johnny Smith chased down Teats as the duo battled wheel to wheel for several laps.  Smith officially led lap number seven Teats passed him back on the following lap.   At the halfway point, Teats led Smith, Cody Hauck, Timmy Bittner, and Dexter Strawser.   Following a lap ten restart, the top three were in contention for the win.   Smith made a last lap pass for the win over Teats, Hauck, Bittner and Strawser.   Heats were won by Teats and Strawser.

Joey Snook led the opening lap of the Four Cylinder feature event.   Fourth place starter Dylan Craft took the lead by the completion of lap number two.   Keith Haagen advanced from seventh to move into second on lap number three.  At the race’s midway point Craft led Haggen, Maddox Smith, Tyler Watson, and Blake Snyder.   The top five remained unchanged for the remainder of the event with Craft claiming his first win of the season.  Heat races were won by John Bower, Watson, and Scott Englert.
